About DatesConverter
DatesConverter was created in 2023 after an embarrassingly simple math mistake. Our founder, an HR manager, calculated an employee’s five-year completion date incorrectly because he subtracted dates manually without accounting for a leap year in between. The employee’s gratuity eligibility was delayed by a month because of a one-day error in date arithmetic. After that incident, he resolved to never calculate dates by hand again.
The Age Calculator was the first tool — because HR deals with exact age calculations constantly for employment eligibility, retirement dates, insurance coverage, and leave entitlements. The Days Between Dates calculator came next, because counting business days for notice periods and project timelines was another frequent source of manual counting errors. The Timezone Converter was added when the company started having meetings with teams across four time zones and scheduling conflicts became a weekly headache.
Why Date Math Needs a Tool
Dates are deceptively complex to calculate. Adding “one month” to January 31st has no universally agreed answer. February has 28 or 29 days depending on whether the year is divisible by 4 (but not by 100, unless also by 400). Time zones change with daylight saving transitions at different dates in different countries. Business day calculations need to account for weekends and national holidays that vary by country and region.
DatesConverter handles all of these edge cases correctly because our tools use proper datetime libraries instead of simplified arithmetic. When you ask for the number of business days between two dates, you get an accurate count that accounts for weekends — and if you specify your country’s holiday calendar, holidays are excluded too.
Practical Tools for Common Situations
Every calculator on DatesConverter addresses a situation where people routinely need date calculations: visa applications requiring exact age, project timelines measured in business days, international meetings spanning multiple time zones, employee tenure calculations for HR, pregnancy due date estimation, and countdown tracking for personal milestones. These are not exotic use cases — they are everyday situations where getting the date right matters.
The Team
DatesConverter is maintained by an HR professional and a developer based in India. The HR perspective ensures that our calculators handle the specific date calculation scenarios that come up in Indian employment law, payroll processing, and compliance reporting. The developer ensures that the tools are accurate, fast, and accessible on any device.
